FOOD FOR THOUGHT 2024

Hope Noodle Soup Can Cooler

Introducing our “Hope Noodle Soup” koozie, a nostalgic nod to the iconic Campbell’s soup can, created for MadCAAP’s annual fundraiser, Food For Thought. This can cooler is not just a fun keepsake but also a symbol of hope—helping to support the fight against poverty in our community.

Campbell Soup: A Pop Culture Icon

This year’s Food For Thought fundraiser features a playful nod to pop culture with a can cooler inspired by the iconic Campbell’s Soup can—a design that was already a kitchen staple long before Warhol turned it into an art sensation.

The cooler’s familiar shape connects to the role soup plays in food pantries everywhere, including MadCAAP’s own, and gives donors a fitting memento. One guest even joked, “Hey, I thought you were drinking soup,” capturing the lighthearted spirit behind this clever, artful tribute to fighting hunger.

Behind The Design

Virgilio Guardado, better known as V—like the letter, is a graphic designer based in Brandon, Mississippi, part of the Greater Jackson Metropolitan area. V has collaborated with MadCAAP for the past three years on their annual Food For Thought fundraiser.

The “Hope Noodle Soup” concept was born from a brainstorming session between Karen Robison, MadCAAP’s Executive Director, Lesley Dill, MadCAAP's Assistant Executive Director, and Development and Outreach Coordinator Erin Buchwald. They wanted to create something memorable and light-hearted that reflected MadCAAP’s mission of inspiring hope. Erin had the idea to add a QR code on the bottom of the koozie, imagining how fun it would be to watch people discover it as they sipped their drinks and later scanned it for a surprise.

The koozie sponsorship idea actually started with David Wright the year before. After last year’s event, he realized it was a missed opportunity and saw it as a clever way to get his logo in front of everyone attending the fundraiser.

With these ideas in hand, they turned to V. His job? To blend it all in a design that captured the playful and meaningful spirit of the event. And that’s precisely what he did.
